@harlingross wears a sweater and beanie set collab with @fanmmon
Staples, uniforms, capsule wardrobes, keepsakes and investment pieces: these concepts are where we think watches fit into the conversation about what we wear, and how, and why.
We're back with Staple Studies, our mini interview series about building a wardrobe to depend on. This time around, we hear from fashion icon and writer Harling Ross @harlingross. Thanks, Harling! P.S. how amaaaazing is Harling's lil knitwear sweater and beanie set collab with @fanmmon??
"I have a harder time figuring out what to wear when it's cold. In warmer weather, I experiment a lot more."
1. What are some staple pieces that you think make a good foundation for any wardrobe?
Non-athletic sneakers, a pair of straight leg jeans, navy blazer, white cotton sundress, a few black and white t-shirts or tanks.
2. How do you decide to invest in a new staple piece?
When there have been multiple recent occasions where I felt like an outfit was stymied due to lacking that particular staple, and nothing else in my wardrobe was able to sufficiently approximate it.
3. Any thoughts on "uniforms"? Do you have one?
I have a fall/winter outfit template (sneakers + high-waist trousers + sweater + blazer) because I have a harder time figuring out what to wear when it's cold. In warmer weather, I experiment a lot more.
